阿根廷于1998年通过的92/98议决（Resolution 92/98）将认证制度确立为强制性，2002年12月31日起，受管制的产品均须由Argentina Accreditation Organization（OAA）认可的认证机构评核是否符合有关标准。
制造商可在符合标准的产品上附加阿根廷S标记，产品评核乃根据IEC标准加上阿根廷差异或阿根廷标准而执行。实际上，IRAM 标准的制订已采纳了大部份IEC标准的条文。
92/98决议分几个阶段实施，自2003年12月1日起,逐步为不同类型的产品设定强制性的安全要求
